Stand up to CANCER!!!
Cancer... every one knows about this deadly disease which does not have a cure.Little did I know that every 60 seconds somewhere someone dies of this disease, 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women get affected.I was seeing this programme called stand up to cancer which was organised by 3 television networks here in US.They are not promoting to prevent the disease but rather this one was focussed in funding the research teams to find a cure of this disease."Do you know how it feels to walk on a bed of thorns?? Thats how you feel when you get cancer" I was touched by these words and this was how I was introduced to the suffering which millions of cancer patients undergo every second of their life, I was able to relate to the pain of actually walking on thorns and started my repeated donation to cancerindia.org which mainly focusses on Indian children. We as adults can withstand any amount of pain but how about a new born or a 1 month old baby or 1 year old kid who just steps into the world??.My mom could not bear me suffering from a common cold 1 day.She atleast calls 3 times to check on how I am doing? Hats off to the patients, near and dear ones who actually support them in every possible way and fight against this deadly one and survive it.We(my husband n I) donated for this generous cause and I think thats the most humble way we can give a helping hand to those who actually are fighting this disease in reality. If you all think you do want to help please donate through this website:https://www.standup2cancer.org/Default.aspx as its NEVER TOO LATE!!!

No JOB coz you are an MBA
As always, I was reading a skit written by an MBA graduate who was offered a low paid job and was rejected just coz he was holding a B-school MBA degree.Well analysing the situation, an MBA is aimed at achieving and integrating the managerial disciplines and creating mangers capable of making ethical and viable decisions in the interconnected world. So for this practically, B-schools have to focus on electives rather than core courses. A small comparison between the international B-schools like Harvard and MIT who offer an average of about 10 core courses and 100 electives which gives the students complete independence of diversity to face the competition in the fast paced world. However the top Indian B schools offer an average of 25 core courses and 60 electives and focuses mainly on classroom teaching rather than practical education. This has been a FLAW through generations and every generation seems to accept the FLAW including mine. And if Kellogg is known for Marketing, Harvard for General Management, our B-schools are known for MBA's to say NO(My manager in DELL was from IIM-Ahmadabad where he use to always quote this"IIM's are taught to say NO").I do not know what my post will do but I always believe at the bottom of my heart that everything starts with a little effort, and that little effort of mine is to create awareness among people(maybe a small group) so that there might be a start to save the future generations or maybe it is time to migrate from MBA to the next emerging field of education business!!

Nuclear Family Vs Joint :-))
Well, this thought struck me when I was a reading a article today in The Hindu, where a person in his old age was explaining the difficulties they see in their old age.I do not know which is beneficial, but sometimes I feel as if the joint family system has a better score in every way especially in the old age. Each and every person was assigned a responsibility depending on their age and skill.Parents looked after their childern when they needed protection and the latter looked after their parents when they needed help. The nuclear system probably is a winner in the young age but I guess inspite of all the flaws joint famiy system is a clear winner in the old age.A similar incident in US, when my husband and I were having lunch in an Indian restaurent where a family sat beside us and I guess the parents had come from India. They were ordering food and when the food arrived, the son and the daughter in law immediately grabbed their own and started having it and only the grand dad's food had not arrived, and when he asked the son replied stating"you did not order any appetizer so thats why you did not get it" the grand dads face sunk and immediately grand mom offered her share to him.Have we become so mechanical that we even forgot our basic table manners, or have we become so western that we don think about our parent's needs or the sacrifices they have done for us.I immediately placed my parents in that situation was able to realise what would have gone through in their mind. But the parents did not utter even the slightest of dissatisfaction.May be thats the difference and thats why they are respected for what they ave achieved. This particular incident left a great impact in me. In the intial stages of my marital life I also wished for a joint family coz I wanted someone to guide me in that part of life which was completely new to me n I was totally inexperienced to handle anything in life:-))..I just wish the younger generation realises the irony of old age and to the extent of possibily for a greater care and concern for the old.

CRICKET!!!
I know everybody from India and in India gets refreshed by this WORD... yes it is our SOUL from a child till a old person it is being relished, enjoyed and fought for...I was watching the IPL today where Chennai Super Kings played against the Hyd team and importantly WE(Chennai, I am basically from Chennai)WON and I also won the bet against my brother for a good amount of money...how much tension and thrill I had when I won the bet... it brought back memories of my childhood days where we would just do anything to make India win....Remember the World cup series which was going on during my 10th exams, I use to finish my studies fast so that I would be allowed to watch the match in which India played... everyone would watch it with the same stress and tension as the players...good fun... when TENDULKAR use to score 4 or 6 we all use to dance for every 4 or 6 :-))) When India was on the loosing edge, I use to switch off the TV for sometime coz my BRO N I were so superstitious and we believed that just coz we were watching they weren't performing as expected LOL.... and we use to go to temples and break coconuts... it may sound foolish to people when they hear about it but there was always HAPPINESS and a feeling of ONENESS in that.... we use to be so proud when India wins especially against our neighboring country... how innocent that fun was... bursting fire crackers on a day night match even if the matches finish late in the night which is SIGN to others that India won.... I especially support this IPL matches coz I feel it gives the youngsters the opportunity to prove themselves and provides a common platform in selecting ppl for the main TEAM... As it brought me back my OLD N SWEET MEMORIES thought should pen it down as always I am PROUD to be a CHENNAITE and INDIAN and support my team all the way through the end... GO TEAM GO!!! signing off for the day.....HAVE A GR8 WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

Breakaway
I first got introduced to this book in my doctor's office, I had read just only the introduction of this book called Into the Wild. Then I wanted to read this book very badly but I was unable to get hold of a copy so decided to settle in seeing the movie of this book called INTO THE WILD. I sometimes see the not so typical movies. This movie caught my attention quite a bit and I don regret for seeing this movie.I was pleased. This is a real life story of a guy who graduates from reputed University and has a well settled life and all of a sudden disappears and he completely destroys his identity. After a couple of years they find his dead ruins in some part of Alaska and journey of that guy to Alaska is made into a movie.I was just wondering, how could some one break away just like that from this materialistic world.Maybe some people are matured enough to see things beyond the materialistic pleasures and when they do they breakaway with characterstic immoderation, break away from the world of abstraction, false security and expenses and as Thoreau correctly said "Rather than love, than money, than faith, than fame, than fairness, give me TRUTH"
Basically, the person decides to go on a walk trail around United States ,he has bad childhood, where his parents married based on a lie,bad parenting, and he ultimately decides to free himself from this monotonous routine of life.By seeing that movie, I felt it is not necessary to be strong but it is very important to feel strong in each and every walk of your life so that one day when everything goes for a downfall, you can measure yourself with your own head and hands. This movie made a quite a bit of impact in me and how parenting plays a vital role in one's life. The guy was brillaint kid and if he had been handled carefully he would have shined very well in his life (maybe thats they say the fragility of a crystal is not its weakness, rather its the strength)and how we are all blessed to have a good part of that.Indeed worth watching it!!!!:-))

Amma!!!
I don know why today I was missing my mom very badly.I felt like talking about her all the time. Yes indeed I miss being her daughter now(now that I am married and have attained officially title as "Mrs") and being with her, sitting and talking with her, laughing with her, shopping with her, gossiping with her. My mom is my first best friend in my life with whom I share everything in my life. I am not sure I am confident enough to do this with anyone other than her in my life. The advice which she gives me at the right time and the way she cares for everyone unconditionally.I owe all my success in my life to her. Her words made me confident whenever my energy level was low. I could not be her and even when I try to be her, I fail every time Maybe that requires lot of experience, patience and unconditional love.I use to feel very angry when I was entering my adulthood about the advice which she use to give me, but somehow now down the lane I realize how correct she was and how ignorant I was!!!She was perfectly right every time .I am not sure if I would ever get back those days in my life back, If I get back, I would probably change the way I was with her, would listen to her instantly instead of arguing, protect her, support her in every way would try and understand her in every way . WISH!!!! I see a shooting star maybe it could come true :-))
